5 Reasons For Using An Indoor Electric Grill
Having an indoor electric grill has made mealtime for our family, as well as countless others, so much easier. It all started with the George Foreman grill several years ago, and has now come to the point where many brands and models rival their outdoor counterparts. That said, if you are still on the fence in deciding whether one of these grills are for you, here are 5 good reasons for getting one.
1. Low Cost Appliance
One very big benefit with electric grills is how low the costs are for one. A very basic model can be found for less than $25, while others will range from there on up to $300 for a very nice Breville Smart Grill. So, finding one to fit even the tightest of budgets is not going to be an issue.
2. Simple To Use
Anyone who has ever cooked on one of these grills will all tell you how simple and easy they are to operate. There's no big learning curve or hassle. Your teenagers can safely cook their own food on one as well. Even better is the fact that you won't have fire flaring up like you do in many cases with your outdoor barbeque grill.
3. Quick Cooking Times
Let's face it, when you leave the office after a long stressful day, cooking a big family meal is about the last thing on your mind. Having to stand in the kitchen and spend an hour or more preparing and cooking dinner is not a lot of fun for most people.
Using an indoor grill eliminates this completely. Cooking up your favorites foods like hamburgers, chicken, steak, fish and more, takes only a few minutes... not hours. You can quickly have dinner ready in as little as 15 minutes.
4. Easy Clean Up
It's one thing to be able to cook a meal in as little as 10 - 15 minutes, but what happens after dinner is over and it's time to clean up? How much hassle is it to clean an electric grill? The good news here is that it is as simple as you could imagine.
Most all models allow you to pop off the grill plates and clean the non-stick surfaces with a sponge and soapy water. Or, put them in your dishwasher and you are done. The only other thing you might need to do is simply wipe off the counter. They really are easy to clean, and that is something our family loves.
5. Requires Little Counter Space
Another thing you will find nice is that these grills take up very little counter space. Hey, for many homes with precious little counter room, this is a big deal. We leave ours sitting out on the countertop, but they can easily be stored in one of your cabinets.
Whether it is at home for the busy family or in the apartment for a single person, you will find an electric indoor grill to be fun and easy to use.

Is there an acceptable indoor substitute for grilling?
I'm planning a large dinner, and many of the dishes I would like to make calls for grilling. However, it's rainy and cold outside and really not good weather for using a barbeque. Is there an indoor technique that would be comparable? And if so, how would one go about it?
For the first answerer (and anyone who will answer in the future) thanks! Are the grilling times for the broiler or stove-top idea (I assume it would be over medium heat, and we do happen to have a grill-pattern cast iron skillet) about the same as they would be for an outdoor grill?
P.P.S.
I actually have a George Forman grill, but haven't used it yet. would the taste/ texture come out similar if I use meats and veggies on that?
Yes, if you have proper ventilation, you can grill on the stove top...with a cast iron grill pan. They have some that fit over 2 burners...and some that have a griddle surface on the other side making them very versatile. If you got two of these (cost you about 25.00 each USD) and put them over both pairs of burners, you would have quite a grilling surface for your party.
There is also the good old broiler feature of your oven. Which is basically like grilling upside down...dry and high heat, but the heat is above the food, not under it like a grill.
If you wanted to make the best of your patio to continue using your outdoor grill...you could try rigging a tarp and bringing out a space heater to make that area more pleasant. Just make sure you show proper regard for safety!
Have a good party!
EDIT: When you broil, really really watch your food. I'm not real familiar, because I don't do it often. It is extremely high heat, yes, I'm sure comparable to a grill, maybe hotter. You just have to know what "done" looks like...and I think there is the thumbprint test for meat.
Regarding the Foreman...of course it is an option, and I started to list this, but you know they aren't very big. Depending on the size of your cooking task, ie...what needs grilling and how many you are feeding at your party, it may not be an efficient way to cook your food for this occasion. It is certainly a viable option to feed a few people.
