Mustard Based BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
* 1 cup prepared yellow mustard
* 1/4 cup honey
* 1/4 cup light brown sugar
* 1/4 cup white vinegar
* ground black pepper to taste
Directions
1. In a saucepan over medium heat, stir together the mustard, honey, brown sugar and vinegar. Season with black pepper. Bring to a boil, and let simmer for 5 minutes. Pour over cooked pulled pork or beef. If you want more flavor, let the meat simmer in the sauce for about 30 minutes.

Honey Mustard Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 onion, chopped fine
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1/2 cup prepared mustard (any kind)
- 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional, but good)
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)
- 1 small lemon, juice and zest
Serving Description: varies - recipe makes about 3/4 cup sauce
Container: small skillet or saucepan
Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook Time: 10 minutes Total Time: 15 minutes
Directions
* In a small skillet or saucepan, melt the butter. Add the onion and cook until soft: about 5 minutes.
* While the onion cooks, remove the zest from the lemon, chop finely, and juice the lemon.
* Mix in all of the remaining ingredients and simmer 5 minutes.
* Brush onto grilled food a few minutes before food is fully cooked. Don't put it on earlier, because the honey will burn.
TIP: If you are grilling for people whose preference for hot or mild sauce varies, make the sauce according to the recipe, but reserve some of it and add more cayenne to the rest. Be sure to keep the categories separate when serving!
